Welcome to Charlene Reagan's Page!
YEAH! You just blew past my goal and there is still a month to the run! Thanks for your suppport. I've increased my goal with the hope of surpassing last years total.
On Saturday, July 15, I will follow in the footsteps of the New York Yankees as part of the ninth annual Damon Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium. This year I am running it in honor of a friend, Marcella Hansen, who recently lost her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Marcella's strength during her battle in an inspiration to all of us lucky enough to know her.
Last year I ran this race for the 1st time and loved it. I ran in memory of my brother-in-law, Bill Reagan, who lost his life to lung cancer. I finished second in my age group out of over 56 ladies and hope to move up to 1st this year! Unlike other 5Ks that I have run, this one includes 286 steps up to reach the different levels in Yankee Stadium! The sacred warning track is part of the course. Of all the races I have run in my 5 years of running, this race is the most inspriational.
Cancer has effected too many people I know (my father, brother-in-laws, cousin, and friends) and we need to support research to find a cure for this nasty disease. I strongly believe in the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and hope they find a cure in my lifetime. Thanks to the generosity of my family and friends I raised more money than my goal. I hope to do that again this year. 100% of the money I raise will be used by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation to fund innovative research by today's most brilliant young scientists, who are racing to find the causes and cures for all types of cancer.
