23Sundays - In Memory of Ed Cain, Jr.
On Sunday, April 15, we will participate in the 10th annual Damon Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium, in memory of Ed Cain Jr., who we lost on December 30, 2016. He was a devoted & loving Dad, son, brother, friend and the love of my life who always made sure he never left you before he gave you a hug & said "I love you" so in return, this is what we can do for him. Keep his memory alive and help fight this horrific disease.
I chose the team name '23Sundays' in honor of Ed's love of baseball/softball. He was always #23 on his team, since his childhood days, as his birthday was April 23rd. Sundays was his day to play once Spring came. He played with most of the same friends since his late teens. The last team he played on was "Unfinished Business". One reason I chose to participate in this particular run was because it's at a baseball stadium. How appropriate, right? Ironically though not the stadium he would really be happy about because he was a diehard Mets fan but I know he's happy for me running for him at Yankee Stadium because I'm a diehard Yankee fan.
Another reason I'm running is because 100% of the money we raise will be used by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation to fund innovative research by today's most brilliant young scientists, who are racing to find the causes and cures for all types of cancer.
Please make a donation that supports our run/walk and you can even be a participant and join the team!
You can choose the amount you want to give – all donations are gratefully received!
Thank you for your support.
