In remembrance of my father Marty Harrington
On Sunday, April 15, I will participate in the 10th annual Damon Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium – a unique fundraising run/walk that uses the Stadium as its course.
Growing up my father and I always had a passion for attending any type of sporting event. The games we watched together were some of the greatest memories of my childhood, especially those attended at Yankee stadium. The most notable game we witnessed was game 7 of the 2003 ALCS when Aaron Boone hit his famous walk off homerun to beat the Red Sox. It was an incredible moment and a memory that will last a lifetime. When I came across this 5k I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate such a great man, husband, father, grandfather, and my hero.
My father, after a courageous battle with cancer, passed away on February 1, 2016. Although we will not be able to attend events together in the future I have and will continue to carry on his memory especially as I run through the stadium that provided us with so many great memories. 100% of the money I raise will be used by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation to fund innovative research by today's top scientists, who are racing to find the causes and cures for all types of cancer. Please make a donation that supports my run.You can choose the amount you want to give - any donation is much appreciated.Thank you for your support.
